Dr. Heather Mivshek
Clinical Psychologist

     

     

    Heather Mivshek, PhD is a Clinical Psychologist (PY#0676) specializing in telehealth services with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Dr. Mivshek completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology (B.A.) at the University of Central Florida, her masters degree in Psychology (M.A.) at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, and her Doctorate Degree of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She completed an APA accredited predoctoral internship at UC Davis Medical Center at the CAARE Center.


    Dr. Mivshek has over 20 years of clinical experience working as a therapist and clinical supervisor to students and other licensed professionals treating children and families. She has specialty training in evidence-based practices, such as Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Parent Child Care (PC-CARE), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and Family Behavior Therapy (FBT).


    In addition to private practice, Dr. Mivshek is passionate about training developing clinicians. She worked as a Clinical Supervisor for over 11 years with the State of Nevada, Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) in the Early Childhood Mental Health Service and Children’s Clinical Services programs. During that time, she provided numerous clinical trainings relevant to evidenced-based treatments and diagnostic formulation. Dr. Mivshek has taught a graduate level course for doctoral students and provided several guest lectures for undergraduate courses at UNLV.


    Outside of clinical practice and training, Dr. Mivshek is a wife and mother of twins and a beloved dog. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, doing puzzles, and playing board and card games.
